Spring seems like it's finally here, so treat yourself to a day off where you explore New York City in the most stress-free way possible (plus, April is Stress Awareness month!). Here's how....
11 a.m.: Brunch Time at Cafe Cluny
Today, you're sleeping in. After a very peaceful wake-up process, head to Cafe Cluny in the West Village for the avocado toast with yuzu paste, golden olive oil, and gluten-free multigrain bread. Don't forget your capuccino with that.
1 p.m.: Take in Some Culture
How has fashion changed throughout history in response to copyright laws and the like? The Museum at FIT explores this and more in its latest exhibit, "Faking It: Originals, Copies, and Counterfeits." Spend a few hours browsing through the space or opt for Galerie Perrotin's "Music" exhibit, which pays homage to some of the greatest music producers of our time.
3 p.m.: Enjoy an Alternative to Afternoon TV
Cha-An is a decades-old Japanese teahouse in the heart of the East Village. Opt for the honey phoenix oolong tea and order a classic Asian pastry to complement your drink.
4 p.m.: Time to Really Relax
Walking into Haven Spa should be enough to lower your blood pressure. But, for a truly beneficial experience, we suggest the Geek Massage. Aimed at helping those who sit in front of a computer all day, this therapeutic treatment combines stretching and targeted deep tissue work that focuses on relieving the upper body of built-up stress. The best decision you'll make all year is to try this out. Also, ask for Lara Katsman.
5:15 p.m.: Beautification
Boasting a vintage California vibe (think retro '50s and '60s outfits and décor), The Happiest Hour is the ultimate spot for total relaxation. Bonus points: the cocktails, created by veteran New York bartender Jim Kearns (of Pegu Club and NoMad Hotel fame), are exceptional.
8 p.m.: Devour an Authentic Italian Meal
Just a few blocks from The Happiest Hour is a foodie's treasure: Extra Virgin. The restaurant offers incredible Italian fare within a stylish space. Indulge and order the whipped ricotta and spinach tortelloni.
9:45 p.m.: It's Happening: Ice Cream
Although Extra Virgin's own dessert menu is on point, why not try something different? Head to Big Gay Ice Cream for a hearty scoop (or two) of soft serve ice cream.
10:30 p.m.: Musica, Maestro
And now, for the quintessential de-stresser: some live music. Although there are a variety of incredibly amazing options around the area, we suggest the legendary Village Vanguard.
